Our Environmental Policy
At Loch Monzievaird we are committed to helping to reduce the impact of our activities on the environment. Some of our environmental objectives are listed below.
" LITTER .We aim to keep litter levels as close as possible to zero. We undertake regular litter walks, and we would ask all residents to be as vigilant as possible as regards litter. A bin is provided at the start of the loch side walk. We would appreciate your assistance in maintaining litter levels to zero.

" WASTE. We collect rubbish from Lodges twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday. Recycling points are indicated in the Lodge information. There is a green bottle & newspaper bin by your rubbish bins. We would appreciate if you would recycle glass, fabric and paper where possible.

" ENERGY We use low energy and reflector light bulbs, outside movement and timed sensors; time clocks, electrisave units, and zoned heating amongst other energy saving devices.

" TIMBER We utilise all fallen timber either for our own construction purposes, our own fuel or free supply to others in the locality. We also use timber from Scotland and Scandinavian countries that have a significant re-plant policy.

" WATER: Algae -We try to keep the levels of algae in Loch Monzievaird at a level which allows the fish better oxygen, retains flow, and maintains the colour and beauty of the Loch. To help to achieve this we use barley straw bales on feeder burns. This helps to filter the incoming water, and also through a microbial process a chemical is released which inhibits the growth of algae. Usage - We closely monitor water usage and control waste through efficient maintenance, and use of water saving devices. (Including hippo's in your cisterns - which means an occasional double flush!)

" TREES We are carefully monitoring the progress of our mature trees helped by a grant which we have been awarded by the Millennium Forestry commission; and we undertake to plant native species to replace old and fallen trees. All trees over a 9" girth are numbered for identification purposes.

" PRODUCTS. We use recyclable products where possible in our workshop and office; environmentally friendly laundry products, and pump sprays during cleaning
