Self-Catering Holiday Information

Golf

The Crieff area of Highland Perthshire is one of the most popular Golfing Holiday areas in Scotland.

Perthshire courses are easy to access for golfers of all abilities. Virtually every Perthshire town and village has at least one course ready to welcome non-members and they are easy to get to by car. Added to this accessibility is the surprisingly low cost of playing the courses in comparison to counterparts further south, west and overseas. In high season a round will set you back on average £20

Aberfeldy GC

On the banks of the river Tay. Some wet holes! Great tin hut clubhouse!
Alyth GC

Winner of the best golf course under £50 - Scottish golf tourism awards 2015
Auchterarder GC

A quality and challenging course right next to Gleneagles at a fraction of the cost.
Blairgowrie GC

Two 18's and a 9 hole course. Rosemount is a classic James Braid designed course.
Carnoustie GC

Scene of the famous last hole balls up by Jean van der Velde in 1999, but at least a Scotsman (Paul Lawrie) then went on to win The Open!
Comrie GC

Challenging 9 hole course, a great favourite of our residents.
Crail GC

Founded 1786 - three years before the Bastille was stormed, a group of eleven gentlemen met at the Golf Inn in Crail and together formed the Crail Golfing Society
Crieff GC

Crieff GC has an 18 and a 9 hole course. Modern clubhouse with views over the courses.
Dunbar GC

Founded 1856 - Classic links course often used as an Open qualifier. Great location with a very friendly clubhouse.
Dunkeld & Birnam GC

Founded in 1892 the original Course, which was on flat ground beside the River Tay, was designed by Old Tom Morris. This was however taken over for trench digging practice in 1914 and never returned. The new course has a superb elevated hillside location.
Gleneagles

Venue of the 2014 Ryder cup. James Braid designed Kings and Queens courses. Stunning scenery.
Kenmore - Taymouth Castle GC

Location second to none, James Braid designed. Skirted by the river Tay. Parkland course of great beauty.
Killin GC

Another one of the classic Perthshire 9 holers. Very very boggy when wet!
Ladybank GC

This tight inland course is often used as a qualifying course for The Open.
Muthill GC

Another of our local 9 holers. Why not pair it with Comrie or St. Fillan's for a special golfing tour day out?
Perth - Craigie Hill GC

Sometimes referred to by locals as 'crazy hill'!
Perth - King James VI

Flat but quirky (it's on an island!)
Perth - Murrayshall

Two 18 hole courses. If you can choose, play the Murrayshall. Lynedoch has some really silly holes.
Perth - North Inch GC

Long established course. Wide fairways encourage a good smash with a driver!
Pitlochry GC

Very scenic golf course. You could get dropped off if someone is on their way to Bruar for shopping.
Scotscraig GC

One of the oldest courses in Scotland and the world. A proper golf course - links-ish and well worth a play - winter special rates!
St. Andrews - Dukes

Interesting mix of holes on this course originally designed by five times open champion Peter Thomson.
St. Andrews - Kingsbarns GC

Scotland's Golf Course of the Year 2020, this course has established itself as a 'must play' course for touring golfers. Classy links course with superb individual holes.
St. Andrew's Royal and Ancient

If you haven't played this one, you can't say you have played at all!
St. Fillan's GC

This is on Ian Botham's top 10 courses! He's a famous cricketer so who knows, but it's great fun - try pairing it with Comrie for a real challenge.
